Can You Get Married At Toronto City Hall?

Absolutely, you can! Toronto City Hall welcomes love in all its forms and is a fantastic place to exchange your vows. It's a wedding venue that caters to couples seeking an intimate and easy wedding ceremony. Whether you're local or from out of town, City Hall is open to all lovebirds ready to take the plunge into marital bliss.

What do You Need to Get Married at Toronto City Hall?

Well, first things first, you'll need to get your hands on a marriage license. The process is pretty straightforward. Both you and your partner will first need to make an appointment to visit the City Clerk's Office together. This appointment will solely be to receive your marriage license. Your actual marriage ceremony is done separately.

To secure an appointment, visit the Toronto City Hall website and fill out a marriage application. After your application has been submitted, you will use your application number to reserve a time to pick up your marriage license. Each couple will need two pieces of government-issued identification. If one of you has been married previously you will also need to provide a certificate of divorce of a final decree.

The cost of a marriage license is $160. This cost does not include HST. Be sure to give yourself enough time before your wedding date to complete this application and secure your marriage license.

Where to get Married at Toronto City Hall?

After securing your marriage license, it’s time to plan your ceremony. Weddings held at Toronto City Hall take place on the third floor of the east building. The chambers are an intimate space with room for up to 15 guests.

Ceremonies are available Monday to Saturday by appointment only. When you hold your ceremony here, you are also given access to the Green Roof Podium, and the first-floor lobby of City Hall on your wedding day.

For those who wish to use a different ceremony location, you can also elect to utilize one of the city’s wedding chambers. Toronto has three different wedding chambers located at the North York, Scarborough, and York Civic Centres.

How Much is a Courthouse Wedding in Toronto?

The Ministerial Association offers Toronto Courthouse weddings that include the officiant, the chambers, the ceremony, and the signing of your marriage license. The cost of this service at Toronto City Hall is $325.00 HST included.

For those that elect for one of the other city chambers, you will secure your own officiant. Wedding chamber rentals cost $117.10 for each 30 minute booking. The city chambers can be looked online by visiting here.
